Another Sponge Bob sample. Kinda of underestimated how much fun "paperdoll"( like southpark) 3d animation can be. You can actually produce good animation if you know what you are doing (and you figure out all of your parts correctly) Still waiting to post animation samples...
Some samples of characters and buildings I created for the game. For some of the buildings I created quick little 3d models for perspective reference. Not only to make it easier for the drawing, but also to make sure the perspective was 100% accurate so the buildings could be arranged in any way in the game environment. The characters here are examples of Bottomites (residents of Bikini Bottom other than the main characters). There will most likely more of these guys created for seasonal expansions. They are pretty fun to make, unlike most cartoon characters their default expression is kind of a frown with a vacant wide eyed look (like stupid fish)
New portfolio sample, bit of a teaser for the fun character animation I got to do for the Sponge Bob game. The animation is actually 3d even though it looks like traditional. (Kinda like South Park, but way better) Character creation started out with a concept drawing of the slightly modified art style from the tv show, then the character was cut up and given a variety of pieces depending on the animation. I did a test rig in maya for a first pass at the animation and once approved the character was rerigged in max. Ill post a texture samples to give you a better idea of how it works. Ill also be adding these animations and quite a few more to my animation portfolio page when I can.
